5 Best iPad Accessories

 —  July 12, 2012 — 6 Comments

Here are my 5 most used iPad accessories. I use these 5 things almost everyday and I highly recommend them to you.

Smart Cover ($40-$70)
I love how thin this cover it. Quick snap on and easily breaks away if you want it off.  Beware of purchasing on eBay, I hear there are a ton of knockoffs and they do not work well.

Magnetic Snap Case ($40)
My friend Luke has this on his iPad and I really liked how if snapped on and how the Smart Cover fits perfectly with it.  This snap on case has the edge over others because of it extra magnets to hold the Smart Cover closed and to stand better.

Bamboo Stylus Duo ($40)
I owned the Bamboo Stylus but it was smaller and lite.  The Duo had a good feel and weight as well as an actual built in pen.  I prefer multi-taskers over unitaskers.

Apple Wireless Keyboard ($70)
Small yet full size, lite, blue tooth…the perfect tool to add to your messenger bag when all you want to do it type a letter, note, article, chapter, etc.  This has been a great tool, it allows me to leave my laptop at home when I do not need the robust MacBook Pro.

Apple Digital AV Adapter ($40)
Thins allows you to get content from you iOS device to a TV with an HDMI input. You will also need an HDMI cable. If you have Hulu or Netflix on your iPhone or iPad this is a must when traveling. I took my Roku and Apple TV to a few hotels but since they do not have a web browser you cannot accept the hotel’s terms for internet use therefore locking you out of your internet content (For the True Nerds: If you have a workaround for this please chime in…I have heard of atv flash but that is only for Apple TV and it’s $30.  I want my Roku up since it has both Hulu and Netflix but the only workaround seems to be Spooking your MAC address…Just create a browser Roku! Then we can accept terms!).

What if your Favorite iPhone/iPad accessory?

I am new to the iPad, so I really appreciate anything that lets me make better use of it! I saw an article in Group you had written about using Apple TV to play what is on your iPad to a tv or projector. You mentioned that the tv or projector needed hdmi input for this to work. The projector in our youth room does not have hdmi. Is it possible to find an adapter to go from hdmi to VGA?

Thanks a lot! I’ll check it out.

  3. I just found your blog and I LOVE IT!!!! I’m a real techy Youth Pastor and I’ve been looking for a resource to help me get my “tech fix”. In reply to your article, a definite MUST is an Otterbox Defender Case!!!! I personally don’t use an iPad (BlackBerry PlayBook!!), but just about everyone else on my church staff and a lot of the members use iPads. I bought one and ever since showing it off to one of the deacons in one of our BlackBerry vs. iPad debates, he’s gotten one and our Senior Pastor has bought one as well! They give the best protection out there…and working in Youth Ministry there’s NO TELLING what you may get into where that extra protection could save your precious tablet. And by the way, BLACKBERRY IS NOT DEAD!!!!

Except for the Apple bias…I LOVE YOUR BLOG and subscribing to your RSS feed right now!!!

    • Thanks Geoff, that is super encouraging. I hope this site helps spark some ideas that help out in your youth ministry.

      • No, thank you Brandon!!! I hope it does too, not only for me but for youth ministries all over the world!!

You know, it would be great to know what apps are out there that people are using in their ministries, now wouldn’t it…??
