Fun video from this weekend promoting the upcoming Killball tournament. The last one of the year for our seniors (my team) – lots of pressure to win the whole thing!

Pretty excited for our students (and maybe yours if you don’t live too far away)to participate in a 2-day Student Worship Conference here at Saddleback Church. Here’s a little bit from the website that just launched this week:

To be quite honest, this conference is probably similar to other worship conferences, however, this is geared specifically to students to truly build them and see a bigger picture of what it means to lead people to the throne of GOD. Even more, this Student Worship Conference is intended to help equip students with the basics of what worship is and what it means to be a musician and/or a vocalist in ministry. Many adults volunteers, youth pastors, worship leaders or pastors assume students are to already know what they need to know when it comes to leading worship through music. WRONG!!! No student knows what they are doing. For the most part, most adults do not even know what they are doing. We need to teach all students to become worship pastors and not just worship leaders, because anyone can lead worship (we will explain that more at the conference).

There will be lots of special guests, student bands and fun here at the Refinery at Saddleback. Get more details here, hope you will join us!

Weekend Teaching Series: Be a Part of the Miracle (1-off between Christmas and New Year)
Service Length: 58 minutes

Understandable Message: This week our Student Ministry Worship Director Taffy spoke a simple but powerful message on Jesus feeding the 5,000. He used white bread, canned sardines and a brown paper sack to retell the story focusing on the little boy being willing to put what he had in Jesus’ hands. It was a great simple talk about what Jesus can do when we trust Him with our talents, gifts, abilites, time and life. Really good talk – loved the gross-out moment when he spread the sardines on the bread and took a big bite, too. Perfect!

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: We had a bunch of polleverywhere.com polls on the screen and let students share their worst gifts on stage (which we rewarded their storytelling by giving them a wrapped white ele[hant gift, too). We also did a fun gift card “trade-up” where we found the most unusual gift card, etc.

Music Playlist: Lift Him Up, He is Alive, Divine and Holy, Learn to Love, Your Love is Enough

Favorite Moment: It was so fun doing a combination weekend with our junior high. We are separated for 99% of the year, so it was great having the younger students all together this lower-attended holiday weekend. Their leaders are so awesome!

Merry Christmas Everyone

Cluster of Students Christmas present to all of Saddleback Kids and Students Ministries of Saddleback. C.O.S. recorded 2 Christmas Songs and 2 new worship songs. We pray and hope you will be encouraged and that this season of Christmas music would encourage you who Jesus is. Enjoy!

Here are the texts/emails we sent out to students who participated in HSM’s Back to School Pray Fast Challenge. If you missed yesterday’s post on it, check it out here!

Day 1 – Personal- Pray for your relationship with Christ and read 2
Corinthians 13:5-7.

Day 2 – Promise- Focus on the promise God revealed to us in Psalms
119:105. How does that relate to us.

Day 3 – Passion- Focus on Matthew 22:37-40 and think about how can you do
this more.

Day 4 – Pastoring - Focus on how can you be more of a light to the people
around you and read Matt 5:14-16.

Day 5 – Protection - Pray for God’s protection over others and yourself.
Be specific in the areas you want protection from God. Read Proverbs 18:10

Day 6 – Perseverance – Read and focus Romans 5:3-5 Pray that God would
help you perservere and see the benefits it has on your character.

Day 7 – Password - Focus on Psalms 100:1-5 also take the time to think
about having a heart of gratitude. Thank God and others.

Loved this idea from Taffy (Student Ministry Worship Pastor) encouraging our students to participate in something he called the Pray Fast Challenge. It has been an really incredible experience this week as our students head back to school – I’ll be back tomorrow with the daily updates we sent to students as well in case you would like to set up something like this, too!
