POLL: How Were You Called to Youth Ministry?

 —  January 28, 2013 — 4 Comments

Was talking to a youth worker this week about how I was personally called to youth ministry – and thought I would ask you to vote in today’s poll with the answer to how you were, too. If your experiences was one of the choices above select it and vote now – if not, tell us your experience in the comments!

  1. Read “The Ragamuffin Gospel”. True story.

  2. As a sophomore in HS, I felt a strong calling to the ministry. However, I should also credit all those Sunday School Teachers and other leaders who encouraged me and allowed me to use my gifts at a young age.

  3. My calling came through theological change. I grew up in a very religious church and as a result did not really trust Christ for my salvation and didn’t really get what the gospel was. Then I came across Mark Driscoll online and started to get a very non-religious, Christ-centered view of the gospel that totally transformed me. I started digging into my Bible like never before and enrolled in Bible college. Before long I just had this feeling in my gut that I wanted to dedicate my life to helping other people see and experience this good news just as I had.

  4. Crazy story, Felt God’s call upon my life while I was at a Water Park in Houston with my family, the summer before my senior year.
At the time, I was tired of the rides so I decided to go take a nap on the chairs and, well, get a little sun while I snoozed. While lying there, I just felt completely overwhelmed with God’s direction, felt God place the word pastor on my heart and with that created quite a stir… a stir that led to me completely changing the course and direction of my life… From there, God continued to refine the calling through a series of circumstance and opportunities…
