I’m Giving Away the New Sony X10 Phone!

Josh Griffin —  May 18, 2010 — 250 Comments

I recently won the first round of a killer contest sponsored by Sony – its called the X10 Blogger Contest. It was a huge deal to be selected as a finalist, and now the final 10 of us are competing for some cash, more Sony products and a trip to 2 to the World Cup in South Africa next month. I realize it is still a long shot, but I’m excited for it to even be a possibility. Just for being a finalist I already got a copy of FIFA: World Cup, a PSPgo and the killer new phone from Sony: the X10!

But here’s the deal – I’m giving the phone away! I have a phone already (the HTC Snap, but I like to call it the HTC Suck) that is paid for by the church, so I can’t use Sony’s great new device anyhow. Sure I could sell it on eBay, but why not create a little online buzz and give it away to one of my loyal readers? And I’ll do one better than that – you don’t even have to be a loyal reader – just leave any comment on this blog post to have a shot at taking it home. I’ll just pick one at random and then give you the phone as a free gift.

The Sony Xperia x10 phone (see the latest reviews here) really looks super – huge screen, Google’s Android operating system, an 8.1MP phone (my favorite part), face recognition, and all the bells and whistles that tie into social networks. Super slick stuff, wish I could keep it but my loss is your gain. You’ve got 24 hours! I’ll announce the winner tomorrow around noon (PST). Thanks for reading MoreThanDodgeball.com!

JG

While I was at the Sony Style store I learned about the X10 Blogger Contest. As a finalist, Sony provided me with a free Sony Ericsson X10 phone and a PSPgo and FIFA Soccer 10 game in connection with my participation in the Sony Ericsson/Sony Style X10 Blogger Contest, which requires me to blog about Sony and/or Sony Ericsson Products.

Josh, you have the awesomest blog in the entire world. And if I thought kissing up would help me win, I could write page after page singing the praises of the blog. And you. Even if you skipped out on one of the best Survivor seasons ever…

  25. hahaha what a great story… blessings from Santo Domingo, D.R.

  26. Josh,
I am a loyal watcher of the podcast that you host weekly. One of the most influential books that I have read lately is “99 Thoughts for Youth Workers.” “More Than Dodgeball” is a daily visit for me. I thought that I would try and pluck a few heart strings to help influence your decision. God bless you dude and I hope that you choose me. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! P.S.–The only reason that I will buy the new book that you and Doug wrote is because your name is on it!!!

  27. please give the phone to one of these other outstanding individuals as I would rather see the phone stay intact than split between us

  28. Josh, wrap it in a TheForce.net t-shirt, pop it in one of those air cannons and launch it this way!

  29. how ironic, i just threw my church paid “suckberry” into a pond.

  30. How cool would it be to be able to share Jesus while at the world cup! Praying that you will be able to do both there. See some awesome soccer and share Jesus! Good Luck!

I totally wore your more than dodge ball shirt the other day!

  38. Sure, why not. Who wouldn’t love a new techie toy to play with?

  39. I sure could use a new phone…

  40. I don’t really like soccer, my phone works fine, but I, like you, like being on the front end of getting the latest “Stuff”…. and definitely can’t afford that on a youth workers’ wages. soo what do you say? You are saying there’s a chance.

  80. Kenyatta Bush May 18, 2010 at 11:06 am

Looks like a very nice phone. I’m really interested in seeing more articles that engage African American youth and theology. I really like what many of the younger theologues are doing, but there seems to be a void that leaves me as well as the youth of my community in a precarious situation.

  81. best of luck informing the world through your blog

  82. Youth Pastors sticking together…..Josh, I need that phone, I want that phone….it needs me.

  83. Wow, good luck to you….and to me.

  84. Thanks for a great blog…and pick me!

  85. I’m always game for free, hook me up Josh!

  86. For Free!!!! yes Please. Would be awesome!

  87. My phone sucks. Keeps dropping calls. Can’t justify spending money to buy a new one, so if you give me a free one, great. Oh, and LeaderTreks loves you Josh!

  88. Thanks in advance!

  89. Scott Guenther May 18, 2010 at 11:21 am

  90. Free phone……good…..Griff winning and going to the World Cup….awesome.

  91. glad you do a site that help us youth workers helps some time to see we are not going through it alone

  92. I have a free ATT phone. I don’t know what I would do if I won that phone… It’d take hours to figure out. Maybe I would have my students help me figure it out! haha… (I sound like an old lady, but I’m only 25! haha)

  93. Still waiting to win one of these contests. :)

  94. I want it!!!

  95. The church I pastor is not giving me a phone :-) So I guess this is my shot at a cool phone (actually I would give it to my wife anyways)

  96. Phillip Amburgey May 18, 2010 at 11:39 am

  110. Good luck for the World Cup tickets and thanks for your generosity!

  111. Thanks for the giveaway.

  112. Wow, and I actually need a phone!

  113. Great idea to kick it out to some lucky reader. Congrats on the blog being huge and now even more award winning!

    Hey Josh! Count me in!

  117. Jeremy Krause May 18, 2010 at 1:02 pm

Pick me Josh. Youth Pastor for 7 years, I’ve heard all the podcasts, followed morethandodgeball.com for years, and think you’re a bigger deal than Doug. Even more… I’m a fan of theforce.net. Would I have a better chance if I prayed while lying on a picture of the phone?

  118. Josh, I think that you should do the next rap video about youth ministry… add that to your resume.. youth pastor, author, famous blogger, white rapper. Think about the amount of hits you would get! And then you could watch yourself come out of the screen on your new 3D TV. I’m just sayin…

  119. Josh,

I’ve seen something like this before…

Once upon a time, you announced the name of an innocent young man claiming that he won a guitar – only to dash his dreams into oblivion.

You better not toy with the emotions of another person!

Just Kidding – hope all is well brother!

  120. Josh, you bring great joy to youth ministers everywhere!

  121. Nathan Gallegos May 18, 2010 at 1:24 pm

Josh, I know what you mean. I have the Blackberry Suck and am looking to get a new phone. Would love a shot at this one. I am a loyal follower fo your blog and just wanted to say thanks for all the cool info and ideas you put out for the team. Thanks

  125. I just finished up a 2 year internship at my church and am becoming the Interim Student Ministries Director. I would love a new phone to replace my 3 year old Treo!

  155. Veronica Bourgois May 18, 2010 at 6:45 pm

    Hi,
I love the fact that you are giving away a phone and I would love to tell you my phone woes…
At the end of February my friend had got a new phone so I was able to buy it off of her for a little $50, I was excited stoked you could say then a week later something crazy happened. On a random Monday morning I was going to the doctor to find out what some mysterious bumps on my arm were when I dropped this brand new slightly used phone (enV touch :) . I thought no big deal I drop my phone all the time little did I know the danger that I was about to face! After my little visit with the doctor I found out I had shingles, if you don’t know what that is its basically chicken pox of your nerves. Painful very painful, the next thing I know I am trying to get a hold of my mom to cry my eyes out because of how in the world could a 22 year old get shingles?! When I discovered that I could not hear anyone talking to me on the phone, they could hear me, but I was deaf to them unless I opened my brand new slightly used phone and had it on speaker. Alas, on the day that I found out I had a viral infection, I also lost the ability to have private conversation. Of course my pocket of money to purchase a new or gently used phone was no longer an option (I was out the $50).
Well that is my story I hope if anything you have enjoyed my little adventure with my phone, and I hope that this last sentence helps my case. While on bed rest from having said shingles, I found this website and was entertained for many many many hours. So thanks for getting me through a month without movie or tv, which I had given up a week before, and shingles.
    Thats it :)
    Roni

  156. Stacy Sublett May 18, 2010 at 6:46 pm

I could get down with a new phone…

  157. Veronica Bourgois May 18, 2010 at 6:47 pm

oh and if you would like proof I will twitter(RoniRoo16) a picture of my shingles!

  158. Way to go Josh!!!! You’re the best!

  159. Dude, I could use this, one of my small group kids needs a phone replacement.

  160. Good luck Josh!

  165. Aaron Alexander May 18, 2010 at 7:30 pm

I should totally win this phone. My iPhone got dropped in a glass of milk like a hot chocolate chip cookie, so now I’m using a 7 year old “Zack Morris” phone just to get by. This phone is my destiny.

  166. I’ll take it!

  167. In for android phone goodness.

  168. I’m a Senior Pastor if you give me the phone I’ll give it to my Youth Pastor. And I won’t even take any of the credit.

  170. Unbelievable!!! I was going to say what luck you have…chance at WC tickets, phone and more…but the reality is you deserve whatever you accolades or stuff you win! Keep up all the hard work.

  171. Thanks for everything you do to equip youth pastors. You’re doing an awesome job!

  172. Thanks for your blogging skills! I hope to get this advantage!

  173. Matthew McNutt May 18, 2010 at 8:15 pm

Holy freaking cow, dude – you know how to get people to comment the heck out of a blog post! You know you want to give to a real loser!

  174. Pick the redneck from Missouri!

  175. Absolutely love the blog! This wouldn’t be the first time I’d get something awesome for free here.

  176. Wow, Josh! What an offer. This would be quite an upgrade from the LG flip phone I have had for two years which still says CINGULAR on it!

  196. Awesome Phone! Would love to win it!

  197. Thanks for all you do JG! Appreciate your thoughtfulness.

  198. okay, just to clarify, I can see that I already have 2 comments entered. I’m not trying to hedge the bets, it’s just that my first comment I entered yesterday didn’t show up right away, and so I thought something went wrong and so I entered it again. And then this morning I see that I actually do have two comments there; both went through. Not trying to cheat. Not a cheater. Cheaters never prosper. All that junk. Oh shoot, I just realized this makes 3 comments for me. Now I’m gonna have to write another one to explain this one. Just send me the phone Josh and I’ll call you can we can work this whole thing out.

  199. Hey Grif. It would sip if I did not get the phone. My wife goes through phones so fast. Here last rode of the roof of her car from our house to Lowes about a mile away and back. Then some how she broke the top of her flip phone off and it look like a comlink. Thanks for all you do.
